Saturday, June 13 : Book of Isaiah 61,9-11.
Thus says the Lord: The descendants of my people shall be renowned among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples; All who see them shall acknowledge them as a race the LORD has blessed. I rejoice heartily in the LORD, in my God is the joy of my soul; For he has clothed me with a robe of salvation, and wrapped me in a mantle of justice, Like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem, like a bride bedecked with her jewels. As the earth brings forth its plants, and a garden makes its growth spring up, So will the Lord GOD make justice and praise spring up before all the nations.

Today's Verse - Psalm 19:1-2
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
God's voice is always speaking through his creation. His witnesses give testimony to his glory, majesty, and creative grace. The universe shouts with joy that behind its intricate beauty, astounding powers, and marvelous wonders is the One who gave it life, purpose, order, specificity, and intention. The apostle Paul said something similar when he wrote to the Corinthians:
...what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:19-20)
The Creator is magnificent and glorious. All his creation - with its vast expanses of the universe, dazzling array of stars and planets, intricate patterns of beauty, its incredible variety of species and terrain, and wonderful motion and forces - proclaim his glory! Are we listening to the voice behind it all, or are we simply taking it for granted?Video Commentary...

My Prayer...
O Great God, Creator of the countless heavens and gracious one who tends to our own small blue planet, we thank you for noticing the heart-cry of each of us, even though we are so small in a universe so vast. We love you, admire you, trust you, and worship you with wonder at your greatness and grandeur. Your marvelous love, demonstrated to us in Jesus, silences us in the breathless wonder of your grace just as creation shouts to your glory about your marvelous work as Creator, in Jesus' name. Amen.

1 John 1:5-6 - Verse for Jun. 12th
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

'Discerning What Is False' - John 8:13-16
[After Jesus had said he is the light of the world, the] Pharisees replied, "You are making those claims about yourself! Such testimony is not valid."
Jesus told them, "These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don't know this about me. You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone. And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone. The Father who sent me is with me."
Key Thought
At first glance, we rush past these passages on false teaching. Many Christians today are surrounded by a culture where tolerance is highly valued. However, Christians shouldn't tolerate dangerous false teaching, especially when that false teaching is about the deity of Jesus. The LORD and his early followers knew there was a danger of false teaching. Jesus knew that the Pharisees who labeled him as a false teacher were hypocritical and self-indulgent, [1] however, that didn't mean he was unconcerned about their accusations. Jesus's response to the allegations against him gives us some tools to recognize false teachers. Do they do the work of God? Do they know Jesus' true identity - his oneness with God and return to God? Do they have observable godliness - quality and character in their lives? Are their judgment and discernment reflective of God's truth? Jesus, when examined, showed himself to be true. Is the same true of teachers who claim to come in his name?
[1] Matthew 23:25.Today's Prayer
Father, I believe that Jesus is your standard of truth and righteousness. Please help me discern that truth in my life. Please help me guard my steps against those who claim to come in his name but who are false. Please guard my heart against those whose teaching does not come from you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

'Going to Church Without Knowing God' - 1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Key Thought
One of the most loved Bible verses [1] begins this way:
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son...
John, the beloved disciple, [2] built a key theme in 1 John around Jesus' teaching on love and His example of love in the Gospel of John. John wanted followers of Jesus to know they must love each other. They couldn't claim to be Jesus' disciples if they didn't. John pointedly told them they could not claim to know God if they didn't love each other. God revealed that loving His human creations was a crucial part of His divine nature. [3] He deals with us based on His love for us. He wants us to deal with each other based on love and His example of love! [4] Our ability to love each other sacrificially when loving is difficult, painful, and costly comes from the love God has demonstrated to us and continues to supply to us through the Holy Spirit. [5]
So, dear friend in Jesus, are you loving your brothers and sisters in Christ? Jesus emphasized that our love for each other must be our defining trait showing that we are His followers. [6] John is equally emphatic: We can go to church, but if we don't love each other, we don't know God because God is love!
Loving people can sometimes be difficult, so John spent much of his time in 1 John teaching about it! [7] He anchored our ability to love each other in God's loving nature as our Father, the power God gives us to love, and the example of God's loving actions to show us that love is much more than a feeling. [8] For the next two days, we will continue to look at what John taught us about loving each other. Today, let's commit to being like our Father. Let's love each other as He has already loved us!
[1] John 3:16.
[2] Many conservative scholars believe John, the apostle and son of Zebedee, was the beloved disciple, also known as the disciple whom Jesus loved - John 13:23, 19:26, 21:7, 20-21.
[3] Romans 5:6-11; 1 John 4:8, 11, 19.
[4] John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:16.
[5] Romans 5:5.
[6] John 13:35.
[7] 1 John 2:7, 10, 15, 3:1, 10, 11-18, 23, 4:7-12, 16-21, 5:1-3.
[8] 1 John 3:16-18.Today's Prayer
Abba Father, I believe that You are the source of all love. Thank You for loving me. I recognize that Jesus is Your ultimate gift of love sent to earth to save me. Thank You! Praise You! Today, I want to commit my life to honoring Your love for me by always loving my brothers and sisters in Christ. I commit to love them in good times and in hard times. As I commit, I recognize that You are the source of all true love, so I ask You to keep pouring Your love into my heart so that I can love others more fully and sacrificially than I have in the past. I ask for this grace in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Cure: What if God isn’t Who You Think He is and Neither are You?
This is a must-read on God’s grace and living authentically, written by John Lynch, the founder of Trufaced. The Cure gives the diagnosis of this century’s religious obsession with sin-management. It has poisoned the Church, obscuring the Original Good News and sending millions away-wounded, angry and cynical, from nearly any organized expression of faith. The Cure offers an authentic experience in Christ that frees some from a self-rewarded righteousness, and others from a beaten down striving for a righteousness they can never seem to attain. The Cure infuses a relational theology of grace and identity, which alone can heal, free and create sustainable, genuine, loving, life-giving communities.
